My soap supplies arrived today. I have 20lbs a soap, with 6 lbs of it being shea butter, and 14lbs of it being standard clear glycerin. The new lavender fragrance and orchid mica powder arrived as well. I tried mixing them into the shea butter base and it turned out to be a very lovely pale pinky-purple color that smells amazing (provided you like lavender).

I tried pouring a lavender kitsune soap and the ears popped out of the mold just fine and seem to be relatively strong. I'm very pleased, as this means I will actually be able to use the mold.

So happy! (there's just something fun about making soap, haha.)

My second guinea pig, Little Pig, passed away during the night. He'd stopped eating suddenly and he went pretty quickly, as they often do. I'd tried to give him some water by hand but it wasn't enough.



He was a sweet little guy, never bit and was very shy. When I first got him he was so shy that he'd hide his face in the crook of your arm. I adopted him from Petco where they were keeping him in a tiny glass tank. Nobody wanted him because he had skin problems. The poor thing had health problems the entire time I had him. I'll miss his cute noises when he demanded food or got excited.

I hope he's actually getting along with Piglet up in Piggie Heaven. :(

I myself am still pretty sick, I can drag myself out of bed for short periods of time but that's about it. Going to the doctor in a little while. Again, still not able to respond to messages and stuff so please bear with me.

Earlier today, I returned home from my parents' place in Allentown. Normally, I take the train up, and they drive me back.

That turned out to be not such a hot idea today, as evidenced by this picture:



Yes, I was standing in the middle of the road when I took that picture. Seems that there was an accident south of Lansdale which took out both lanes, and traffic could only get by on the shoulder, leading to a 10+ mile traffic jam.

Could have been worse, I suppose. The weather was nice, and we didn't have any road rage to deal with. The total wait was only about an hour.

In 1980 I bought my first computer, an Apple II with 48k of RAM. I remember that I paid $309 for the external 142K diskette drive which is $800 in today's dollars. I can buy a decent machine for that today!

I've been sick in bed all week with a fever, so if you're waiting on a response from me for something, please bear with me. I'm on antibiotics now so hopefully this will pass in a few more days, but until then I'll be slow to get back to e-mails and messages.

Also after today I'm no longer going to have a cel phone so to those of you that have the number, the best way to get in touch with me is now e-mail. I hope I'll get it back soon but I just don't know when that will be. If and when I get it back I'll say something about it here.
